Research Questionnaire System

You need a questionnaire that collects usable data the first time.

A questionnaire written from a blank page looks finished until the data come back. Then the gaps show: questions that do not measure the construct, response options that cannot be analysed, skip patterns that lose respondents.

After fieldwork it is too late to fix them.

We adapt it to your study

Who it is for

Researchers, doctoral candidates and study teams preparing a survey or a structured data collection.

What it aims to improve

A questionnaire derived from your study objectives and the literature, with every item traceable to its source, ready for data entry and analysis.

What changes for you

  • Every item can be defended: you can show where it comes from
  • Problems are found before fieldwork, when they can still be fixed
  • Your data arrive in a form that is ready for analysis

What it does

The work is evidence-based. We start from your research objectives and carry out a targeted literature review for the constructs you need to measure. Where validated instruments exist, we use them. Where they do not, items are designed from the literature and documented. You receive the questionnaire together with a codebook and a reference list showing where each item or scale comes from.

How the work proceeds
  1. Your objectives

We agree what the study must measure, in which population and by which method.

  2. Literature review

A targeted review for each construct, looking first for existing validated instruments.

  3. Item design

Questions, response options and skip logic, each documented with its source.

  4. Codebook

A data dictionary that prepares data entry and analysis.

  5. Handover

The questionnaire, the codebook and the reference list.

Illustrative layout only. Your codebook names the actual instruments and publications.

The right method depends on your research question, study design and data. We support your analysis; scientific responsibility for the results stays with you and your team.

What is included

  • A targeted literature review for the constructs to be measured
  • Use of existing validated instruments where they exist
  • Question and response-option design
  • Skip logic
  • A data dictionary and codebook
  • A reference list showing where each item or scale comes from
  • Preparation for data entry and analysis

What is not included

  • Translation and cultural validation by certified translators
  • Licence fees for copyrighted instruments
  • Your ethics submission
  • Running the fieldwork
  • Validation of a newly designed questionnaire: that needs a pilot and psychometric testing, and is a separate step

What you need to bring

  • Your target population
  • Your research objective and study design
  • The collection method (for example online, on paper, by interview)
  • Any draft you already have

Where this service stands

We adapt it to your study

We carry out this work for your study, based on your objectives and the literature.

Good to know before we start

  • “Evidence-based” describes the method. A newly designed questionnaire is not “validated” until it has been piloted and tested.
  • Some instruments are copyrighted. Their licence terms and fees are yours to arrange.
  • Please send no participant data. None is needed for this work.

Questions we hear

“Is the questionnaire validated?”
Where validated instruments exist, we use them and cite them. A newly designed questionnaire is evidence-based but not yet validated: that takes a pilot and psychometric testing, which is a separate step.
“I already have a draft. Can you work from it?”
Yes. We review it against your objectives and the literature, keep what holds up, and document the source of every item.
“What exactly do I receive?”
The questionnaire, a codebook with a data dictionary, and a reference list showing where each item or scale comes from.
“Can this be used for a thesis or a funded study?”
Yes. The documentation is written so that a supervisor, a reviewer or an ethics committee can follow how the instrument was built. Scientific responsibility for the study stays with you.
“What does it cost?”
That depends on your situation, so we publish no price list. We discuss the price with you during the first call, once we understand what you need.

The next step

Book a 30-minute introductory call. We talk through your objectives and tell you what the work would involve.
